Nashiks Historical Perspective
The origin of the city and its name is not known but it did exist during Ramayana era. The flora and fauna of the city fascinated the Mughals who called it Gulshanabad abode of flowers. Peshwas renamed it Nashik and during the British rule it regained its lost glory when they restored the beauty of its natural lakes and mountains. The city has a rich heritage of Culture, History and Mythology, like of which are difficult to find. Modern Nashik is the amalgamation of industries and artisans and is fast developing into a conglomerate of IT specialists. The seeds of this modernization on the banks of Godavari were sown centuries ago by the skills of the Marathas.
