Utility major Mahindra & Mahindra on Friday said it has signed a long term wage agreement with employees of its Igatpuri unit at
Nashik. However this agreement doesn’t have any impact on its Nashik main unit where employees have been styriking work since the past two weeks.
The Igatpuri unit is a smaller facility which makes engines for all M&M automotive products, while the Nashik plant is a larger unit that makes the Xylo, the Scorpio, Bo-lero and other utility variants.
This agreement with the Igatpuri employees would be valid for three and a half years, M&M statement. Interestingly, on May 14, the Nashik Industrial Court declared illegal the 2-week long strike at M&M’s Nashik facility and directed the workmen to resume work in 48 hours, which ends later Friday evening.
