The severe cold wave sweeping across Maharashtra could partially affect the grape crop if proper care was not taken, sources in the directorate of horticulture here said. Grapes could suffer cracks due to the extreme cold conditions in the traditional belt of the crop in Nasik region where mercury dropped to 4.4 degree celsius, the lowest in the state, on Sunday, they added. The cold wave seems to have affected major parts of the state. The cold wave is expected to affect the sate for another 36-72 hours. As state earlier, one of the coldest winters I have experienced in last few years and as the weatherman claim in last 17 Years.
