STPI eyes 100% growth in software exports from Nashik.
Nashik-based STPI (Software Technology Park of India)-registered units have registered a 116 per cent growth in software exports in fiscal 2006-07. Moreover, STPI, is eyeing a similar growth in during fiscal 2007-08 too.
According to reliable sources, software export from Nashik is expected to touch Rs 150 crore by the end of fiscal year 2008-09.
ITPO industry in both Mumbai and Pune has reached a saturation point. As Nashik is equidistant from both Mumbai and Pune, many ITPO firms are eyeing to extend their base in Nashik.
So far, around 19 units, including Tricom India, WNS Global Services, Aress Software and Education Technologies, Object Edge Software, Web DreamWorks, Thinking Minds.Com, eLuminous Technologies, ESDS Software Solutions, Winjit Technology, Webminds Infotech, Gega Infotech, Kaizen Overseas, MaGaJa InfoTech, Neumann Systems Software, Net Solutions India, Illusion Graphix and Sai Softwares have been registered with the STPI, for the software export.
Software export from Nashik has increased by 116 per cent to Rs 26 crore during fiscal 2006-07 as compared to last year. The software export from Nashik was Rs 12 crore in FY 2005-06 and Rs 9.5 crore in FY 2004-05.
WNS Global Services, which has two units in Nashik with headcounts of 1,500, had exported software (from Nashik) worth Rs 11 crore during FY 2006-07 and Rs 5 crore in the FY 2005-06. Arres Software & Education Technologies exported software amounting to Rs 6 crore during FY 2006-07 and Rs 4 crore in FY 2005-06, sources said.
In the current FY 2007-08, STPI is eyeing more than 52 crore software export from Nashik. According to reliable sources, the software export from Nashik will touch Rs. 150 to Rs. 200 crore by the end of the fiscal year 2008-09 as around 10 to 12 ITPO majors are expected to set up their base in Nashik by that time.
Besides, Mumbai-based non-voice BPO company- Tricom India Ltd, which is also the major exporter, has already started its unit in Nashik with the headcounts of 400.
Another Mumbai-based BPO company has bought 40,000 sq ft property at Nashik and it is too expected to start operation within two or three months.
