Biscuit major Parle Products Pvt Ltd is planning to set up a manufacturing unit at Vadivarhe, near Nashik. The facility, which is under construction, is expected to commence operations in the next three months.
The company has purchased a three-acre plot in Vadivarhe, 22 kms from Nashik, to set up the state-of-the-art facility. Initially, the company will manufacture wafers and snacks. The company is also planning to make biscuits at the Nashik facility, sources told Business Standard.
Mumbai-based Parle Products manufactures cookies and confectionery, including toffees, candies, savories and mints. The company has a 40 per cent share of the biscuit market and a 15 per cent share of the confectionery market in India. Its major biscuit brands include Parle-G, Monaco and Krackjack, with principle confectionery brands comprised of Melody, Poppins, Mangobite and Kismi.
Parle’s existing production facilities include a flagship plant in Mumbai, which produces biscuits and confectionery, while another factory at Bahadurgarh (Haryana) manufactures biscuits. Apart from this, Parle has manufacturing facilities at Neemrana (Rajasthan) and Bangalore. Apart from these, the company has another 14 manufacturing units for biscuits and five units for confectioneries operating under contract.
