With 2000 students passing out of Nashik’s engineering and management institutes every year, the city governors are now looking at using this vast resource to attract the IT industry which has changed the fortunes of many a town in India.
The city’s first IT park, the V-Tech IT Park, built by Vascon Engineers in association with Nashik’s Sanklecha Constructions was inaugurated by Kiran Karnik, President of NASSCOM. Office space of 7.5 lakh sq. ft has been made available for BPOs, and WNS has been the first to set up shop here on 2 lakh sq. ft of area.
The NASSCOM President urged the local administration and state government to provide Nashik with better transport links with Mumbai to establish itself as a major IT centre. An international airport and faster connectivity to Mumbai by road and rail would ensure that its inherent advantages of good human resources and cheap land prices would be optimally utilized.
The opening of this new IT hub spells good times for real estate. The city possesses a vast potential for construction of quality residential and commercial space, and early birds could reap rich rewards in the near future.
