As part of its expansion plans to enter 14 new cities in India which include Cochin Chandigarh, Vizag, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Nagpur, Nashik, Kanpur, Pune, Surat, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Lucknow, Coimbatore, IBM announced its operations in Goa.
Since November last year, the expansion plans have begun in Chandigarh, and the operations in the other cities are expected to start in the next 3-4 months. The IBM operations in Goa will be a client interface offer where IBM experts comprising of 6-7 members will head the operations. Teams from other offices across India will also extend their helping hand for the Goa operations. Their office will be located at the Business Center, Marriott, Goa.
IBM’s portfolio of clients in Goa includes Sesa Goa, Chowgule Industries, Government of Goa, Pentair Water and others. It plans to work hand in hand with local ISVs who provide them with clients in each market. SMB’s in India have great potential to reach the global market and since most of them cannot afford to do so, IBM, through its products and services, claims to help these businesses to grow. It has invested in the development of products and services that is priced and designed for SMB marketplace under the brand name ‘IBM Express Portfolio’. The IBM Express Portfolio comes with a training offer and is an innovative bundle comprising of hardware, software, services, solutions and financing and is designed to meet the criteria for SMBs.
A spokesperson from IBM said, “Since most companies in India rarely cater to the needs of the SMB’s, IBM has recognized the need to address the SMB market which has a huge potential. According to the analysts SMB’s contributes almost 60% of the IT market”.
